I'm Michael Teeling, an enterprise technology marketing consultant in Silicon Valley. In my 17-year career, I've held both corporate marcom and PR agency jobs, and founded my firm Influential Strategies in 1998. I've recently undertaken a qualitative research study into what makes a fearless B2B technology brand, and this blog communicates my progress.

In my practice, I serve both technology startups and established players with C-level communications strategy and program management services. Markets served span electronic commerce, business intelligence, performance management, open source, CRM, systems integration, and financial services. My resume includes stints at The Horn Group, Fleishman-Hillard, and Active Decisions, and work for major clients like PeopleSoft, Actuate Corporation, and The Chasm Group.
I partner with Fearless Branding to provide a research-based brand visioning service benefiting management teams at technology startups.
I'm an alum of Boston College. My post-grad education has concentrated on marketing, entertainment, and technology. I studied voice-over narration and improvisation techniques for three years, and since 1993 have trained technology executives in the finer arts of public speaking.
My wife Amy and I make our home in Oakland, Calif. We enjoy travel, cooking, dancing, scuba diving, skiing, movies and theater. But mostly, we enjoy our joyful children, Gwendolyn Michelle (born June 2003) and Aidan Pierce (born December 2005).
